October 9, 2026: Republican Like Me

I’m still mulling over the idea, of writing a book entitled Republican like Me. This would be much like the book Black Like Me. I should just get the clothes and go for it. I might have to move elsewhere in order to pull this off. This way I won’t get shit from my more liberal friends. This is not going to be easy, I mean, how could I advocate the showing of a firing by execution, on national television? Or, well, there are so many things. But I want to know why people are thinking the way they are thinking. Actually, they aren’t thinking at all.

I wonder what it’s like to be a non-thinker. Are their minds blank? Or are they content thinking illogically? Maybe I will seek out a Republican cognitivist (if such a thing exists) and ask him, her, or them this question.

Inquiring minds want to know. I wonder if there is still a National Inquirer newspaper. And what was it like, or is it like, to write for this paper?

I think that I’m a thinker. Maybe I am not. No, yes, I am.

I talked today with Scott, who is a disabled individual running for Mat-Su Borough Assembly. I have spoken with him several times about the fact that I am incredulous that he’s running for an assembly position in District # 2 because he most likely is going to lose and a republican will get the seat. And I saw last night that one of two Republicans running against him is very articulate and doing a good job campaigning. I added that because Scott is doing such a poor job, the other guy is most likely going to win.

Scott was totally unphased by my statements. I didn’t add that he is much like Forest Gump because he does not know who Forest Gump is. Scott is not a thinker. He is ambitious and has found that this is a healthy way (or so he thinks) of getting attention.

What most amazes me is that I have yet to meet an individual in this community who is bothered by the fact that Scott is ill suited for this particular political office. This could be because everyone, and I do mean everyone, has other, more pressing things to think about right now. And I? Yeah, I see this as being deleterious to all in the Mat-Su Valley because some very important issues are going to be deserving of intelligent, thoughtful, sustained thought.

Well we have just a few weeks now before all kinds of elections.

What would Jesus do if he could vote? Most likely vote for Scott. Tonight I am, like Scott, in way over my head.
