April 23, 2026: Upon Leaving Computer behind, in the Former Banquet room of the Historic Eagle Hotel

Weather today warmer 50˚ F, 5˚ C. Tonight raining at 10:00 p.m. Now I don’t know why this is, after all, I failed meteorology. I like the rain when it’s warm.

Last night (early this morning), I dreamt that the water in the horse enclosure (that had run into the pit) was gushing out of the enclosure pipe; really gushing, like out of a fire hydrant; why, I do not know. I knew that if I waded into it, I would be knocked over, so I remained to the side.

This dream made me feel as though I was really, really small, or that I had a very narrow world view. I mean, the world is a big place, and I was fretting about the water coming out of the horse enclosure.

I remember growing up and keeping a diary, one I wrote in every single day for five years, and going back some time ago and reading the entries. I then realized that my world view (then unbeknownst to me) was very limited. I am making a comparison here to two of my narrow world views.

I also dreamt that I went to see a litter of puppies – one was black and white – I think it was a border collie. I don’t remember the details of this dream beyond being told that it had a 67 percent chance of developing some sort of debilitating illness. I remember not taking the puppy home.

I remember as a pre-teen, finding a mid-sized black dog and being told that I could not keep her. Some neighbors found her a home on a farm. The basis for comparison is that I am in a similar situation, or so my dream indicated.

So onto more consequential things: Today I got my health related bloodwork results back. Just one thing was amiss – I have high cholesterol. I will again have this tested in another three-six months. So this will be off my radar for a while; although I am going to modify my diet.

The gums surrounding the dental implant is still an issue. It began throbbing this afternoon. I dosed it this evening. Pete says for now keep the tooth. I like what Pete says.

The high point of my day took place this evening at Swanson Elementary School. Kim Evans, the librarian, coerced 70 students, pre-kindergarten to second grade, into each reciting a poem. Some did this in groups of two.

I was extremely impressed with the rapport that Kim had with her students. She reminded me of a good dog trainer, and the students of good dogs. They were all focused and alert. Every single student did a good job and was eager to please. It is so important for students to learn poems and go public in reciting them. This to me was literacy at its best.

Me, I must now get going on getting Summer in the Parks going. I can do this. I am the caboose.
