November 12, 2025: Get Along Little Doggie

Today I told Anneta, who is a BLBP volunteer, how I’d like to own 50 acres, this being enough land for a sheep farm and sheep dogs. She thought this was a good idea. Later I had an additional idea. The land would also have a bunk house, at least this is what we’d call it, for a herdsperson. Their job would be to tend to the sheep on a daily basis.

The herdsperson would, like me, own a border collie or two. We’d take our dogs and we’d round up the sheep periodically. We’d also get sheep dog trials going. Of course, I’d have Icelandic horses and track fencing, so they could wander and eat and not ruin the pasture area.

I’d have to have a few million dollars to pull this off.

It would be best to have this place near a large body of water so that Pete and I could resume sea kayaking.

If you picture it, it comes to be.

I’m still telling people about our owning the hotel. Most tend to take the middle vision point of view – that is, well it does seem possible.

The very odd thing is, in both instances, there are many people with no or little money and there are many people with a whole lot of money. Now why is it that we can’t connect with those who have a whole lot of money?

Today at the Palmer Chamber of Commerce meeting, the speaker’s focus was on the real movers and shakers in the Mat-Su Valley – first of all, the North Rim Bank and secondly, the Mat-Su Health Foundation. I didn’t have bookmarks, so I didn’t introduce myself to either speaker or their staff members. Next time, I will be prepared.

I also need to dress for this sort of thing. I have to get a blazer, a white blouse, and either nice dress pants or a skirt. This would be a step in the right direction, of meeting those with money.

This is the way it is in theory. Sometimes I think that I need a mentor and a handler. Add to this, a sherpa.

Sherpas are easy to find. Had one today who took on the role of heavy lifter – he moved a lot of books in addition to cleaning some. Yes, I am getting better at asking people to do things besides clean books. I laid out the Christmas books on the table and am going to have the distributors distribute them.

The wheels did start turning today, and in this respect, it was an ideas day. The words Lego literacy came to mind, and I began envisioning using them to count. Then I went online and saw that others have been doing innovative Lego literacy things for some time. Hmm, maybe we can get the Lego people to help fund the BLBP.

I will look up the Lego foundation when I finish this dispatch.

Plenty of ideas, still, a good thing.
