April 21, 2025; Bits and Pieces

I am not fond of disjointed narratives, unless there is some glue holding these pieces together. Scotch tape will also do in a pinch.

The glue holding today’s disjointed narrative together is (I pause) up and down because it was that kind of day. I guess they can’t be all up and all down, can they?

A common refrain of mine, in relation to the BLBP is, “Got Lot’s Going On.” If supposed listeners stand still long enough, or show a modicum of interest, I then fill them in on the details.

I do not know if dispatch readers will, today, keep reading.

I began my day by making phone calls on behalf of the BLBP – got German books in U-Haul, so I called Birch Tree Charter School. Annabelle said they’d take the books under the condition that they could return those that they don’t need.

So I took these books to the former banquet room of the historic Eagle Hotel, and Alex, volunteer, cleaned and boxed them. Sheri, who is on the BLBP Board, took them to Birch Tree.

I distributed to numerous places and ended up of course at the hotel.

Had two meetings. The first, Pete and I conferred with Terry about numerous things, including getting a fundraising evening going, and Science of Reading Trip Logistics.

Next, Sheri, Pam, and I conferred about Pam’s job as Office Manager. I do understand that Sheri is looking for ways of reducing my workload, but at this point in time, this is not possible. And it won’t be possible until we find an administrative assistant.

Overall, Terry and Sheri’s energy was a boast, until later this evening, when I realized that my work load won’t immediately diminish. Then it plummeted and has not gone back up.

Distributed and put up signage in the late afternoon and then came home. I went to the house first, and when I came down to the horse enclosure I noticed that Tyra was standing apart from Raudi and Hrimmi. It was déjà vu all over again as I let the three out the far gate. Tyra walked over to the far side of the driveway and laid down. She looked dead.

I went and got a halter and a rope. She immediately stood up. I could tell though, that she wasn’t feeling good. I did the same things that I did a few days ago with Hrimmi – did TTouches, this including ear rubs, brushed her, and gave her treats. She lipped the treats, but after a bit she took them. I had her by the hitching post – there she began eating hay.

Pete talked to the veterinarian who said to give her Banamine, which we did. I then took her for a walk. And as with Hrimmi, she got progressively better as we circled the loop. Three quarters of the way around and she was back to being her pushy, grabby self.

So up and down. Heading out now at 10:51 p.m. and checking on her, to make sure she’s still okay.

Next: 111. 4/23/25: Whoosh
