Tonight, I got Raudi out and rode our trails. They are now soft because the ground has thawed. Raudi made her feelings about the fact that the trails were soft and punchy known, by showing little or no enthusiasm about being out on what I called an adventure. Hrimmi was the same way a few days ago. The trails will harden in a more few days and they both will forgive me.
I haven’t gotten Tyra out in some time because she still has the splats, and I don’t want to stress her out. I did clean her up this evening – I figured that this would make her feel better. I know if I had the splats, and someone wiped my butt, I’d feel better.
The veterinarian is coming on Thursday and will assess the situation and prescribe the right treatment. In the meantime, she does seem to be her usual happy self.
Yes, spending time with horses, dogs, goats, and even chickens is very important. Their life span is far less than mine. Hrimmi’s and Tyra’s recent bouts with colic are a reminder of this.
The days are now longer, so I am able, in the evenings, to be outside with them.
Tonight, Pete put in a new fencepost – he smashed the other one backing the red truck. He hit the old post inadvertently when he was attempting to get close to the hay shed while avoiding a muddy patch.
What most impressed me was that he went and bought a new fencepost, and today he dug the old one out and put the new one in, without complaint. He did not grumble or say this was a waste of time. In fact, I’d venture to say that he enjoyed doing this project. Me, I would have let my displeasure be known if I had to do what he did.
This is a moot point because I could not do what he did. He asked for assistance getting an angled bolt into a hole on the box blade of the tractor – this was so he’d have stationary so he could remove the nut on the other end. I didn’t understand what he was doing or why he was doing it for some time.
Pete’s time was well spent – and I think he thought so too.
