Either something is amiss there or they are tired of my high maintenance dental issues.
And health care providers also like the book project.
So Dr. Joe greets me and asks how I’m doing, and I tell him I am doing awesome, which is sort of true – my back is tight, but my hip has not been bothering me. He had me lay down on his oddly shaped bench (it looks like a disemboweled cricket), and he did what it is that chiropractors do. The man, I again noted, has good hands.
After, we talked a bit – and he said that he was surprised that I was doing so well given the severity of my injury. Then he said that I was in very good shape.
I’m not in good shape. But I had succeeded in fooling him. I don’t know if this was good or bad. I then asked him how I might stay in good shape. He told me that the secret to longevity was to keep from getting injured. And the best way to keep from getting injured is to be mindful.
In other words, pay attention to what I’m doing – he used being outside, around the horses, as an example. I did say that a few years back I went to a gym and there worked with a trainer – the problem was that I was pushed to beyond my limit and that I feared that if this continued that I’d hurt myself.
This very positive individual said to take what I learned in the gym and put it to use, meaning, use squats, do the farmer’s carry, and pay attention to what I was doing.
I had sort of figured all this out. However, the affirmation was more than appreciated. He showed me some stretches so I will do them. I am now determined to get back in what I consider to be good shape.
I came home – the good weather continues – and Pete and I took Raudi and Tyra out for a ride. We also took the dogs with us. Then after, I took Hrimmi for a walk.
After, I noticed that I was able to walk just fine. The dude is a miracle worker.
