I elected to have drops this time around because I thought that perhaps the optometrist would see something that she would not see otherwise. I am back to thinking that the equipment is so good that patients don’t need drops. But the pharmaceutical companies make so much money off this medication that the practice of putting drops in is going to remain the same old same old.
I never did the get the optometrist’s name – she did not introduce herself. She was tall, thin, and wearing glasses that defined her face rather than the other way around. She was also somewhat brash, which got me to thinking that this was how she made it through eye doctor school. Her teachers must have quailed before her.
I told her about my facial nerve problem and said that I’d like to talk to Dr. Wolf who has a degree in neuroscience. She told me that he does not. This is an instance when I am right – I talked with him about this.
I continued on and told her more about my problem and its history. She didn’t have an answer except to mention what I knew, which perhaps I might start taking gabapentin. Then she said what I did not know, which was that sometimes, in such instances, those with the symptoms that I am having are given botox shots. Hmm, well, I’m for it if it takes out some of my facial wrinkles.
We next went to Lowes and purchased a combination cart/dolly, this for the upcoming move and using in the new space.
Then we went to the Meeting House where I packed a half dozen boxes of books in preparation for the move. We don’t have a contract yet, but the owner of the Eagle Hotel has begun working on our site requests.
I did walk over to the Palmer Museum visitor center and there stood around for a short bit, waiting for readers to come and select books. It was cold and windy – Nan and Bea bagged it and in short order I went and got the car. I packed up books after picking up books at the Swanson Elementary School. Then I did routine distribution.
I ran into my good friend Timothy who I had not seen in some time. He has been having health issues. It did lift my sagging spirits to see him and talk with him about the upcoming move. He thinks, and hopefully so, that we’ll be a welcome addition to the hotel, which seems to be on its lips.
