I felt much better after I blew off steam, which was what I needed to do.
Consequently, the afternoon was a lot of fun. The two volunteers doing eBay, one pricing and one listing the books, met for the first time. It is interesting that Calle is pricing the books and Lydia is listing them and Pete is mailing them out. I am amazed that this has fallen together so well.
Then, after Lydia left, Lawrence joined Calle and me and we talked about the upcoming art gallery exhibit. I knew that they all play musical instruments – and finally, they agreed to bring their instruments next week and jam. Lawrence said they’d be a trio.
This got me to thinking, if you have the space, you have more options than if you do not. So here we go, art, music, literature.
Then as I was heading out the door, I met up with Herbert, who lives across the hallway from the former banquet room of the historic Eagle Hotel. He’s interested in moving to another room, which would leave his room empty. We’ve been thinking that we’d like to rent it.
Can we afford this? My answer is that we have nothing to lose. Growth involves a certain amount of risk taking. And if you don’t take those risks, you stagnate as an organization.
So yes, we are going to consider this.
All this to say that I left the former banquet room of the Eagle Hotel feeling very calm, a big difference from when I left the house feeling agitated. So if I remember this day, it will be that it was a day that had a twist to it. Also, at the end of the day, it felt like spring was on its way.
You can always anticipate what the following day will be like, but of course never, never get it right. This is what is so remarkable about life. Every day is different and you never know how it is going to change you.
