I wish I could add another twenty years to my life, that is now, be 20 years younger. Right and left, left and right, people my age are now dropping like flies. I feel as though someone tacked an extra ten years on my life when I wasn’t looking.
So today, I looked at my email after tending to the horses and went hmm. The news was promising. We might have a shipper lined up, a freight company that will take the books from Tacoma to Carrollton. And TOTE Maritime did get back to me, and we are now in communication about getting the books from Anchorage to Tacoma. This is progress.
And Christopher got back to me and said he would take a look at another draft of the Shelf Life proposal. And a few schools are donating books.
Getting out of here in the mornings is extremely difficult. The list of things that I have to do is very lengthy, and inevitably, I will forget one or two of the topmost items. But I got in the car, began flipping through radio stations, and headed in the direction of Sutton. I thought, as I was driving, that I envy people who live there because the drive there is so incredibly beautiful. You have mountain peaks ahead of you, and the Matanuska River on your right.
I first went to the Sutton Elementary School and put books in the bookcase. I then went to the Sutton Public Library, and I took some fiction from their remaindered area. I bypassed going to the Sutton Post office and headed back to town because I was short on time
I got to the former banquet room of the historic Eagle Hotel at 11:50 a.m. – had just enough time to unload the books that yesterday I picked up from U-Haul.
I next had math class – my homework answers were okay. But today’s lesson – I have a lot to figure out before next week. But I am discovering that, yes, I can do this.
A great afternoon, assisting volunteers who were cleaning and sorting books.
Now tomorrow, let’s see if we can get more books from Anchorage.
