August 25, 2026 Problem Solving Continues

Today, rain. Right now, the rain that’s coming down is very tropical. It’s pretty intense. The sky is yellowish and the rain is coming straight down so hard that we can hear it on the roof. I mean I can hear it without my hearing aids.

Yes, it may rain again tomorrow, the second day off from the fair. Some would say no fair. I say this is only fair.

Yesterday, I made note of a problem. Today I partially solved it, that is with Pete’s help. He suggested that I talk with Sierra, who is the barn manager at the Alaska State Fair, and perhaps arrange to get some people together and teach an agility class.

It dawned on me later that I could do this, and in this way counter what I saw yesterday. I am going to mention it to her when the fair resumes. We have today and tomorrow off, which is a very good thing given that even though we are in the first few days of this, I am tired of it. I did not pace myself. Should have.

I worked hard today, but just a bit on fair stuff. I went distributing after picking up books from the former banquet room of the historic Eagle Hotel, then went back to the hotel. I got to most places. And most places were low on books.

I began pulling other books for the fair while at the hotel. It was raining hard, so neither I nor anyone else felt like we should instead be outside. I went to the Bigfoot Frame Shop, and there I met Lynsey who is with Logan, the videographer. We talked for some time – she was very chatty. I thought she must have had her morning coffee. She may have had the same thought about me. We mainly talked about the house that she and Logan are building. They’ll stick around because this is a huge investment.

I continued on, and distributed books in a variety of places then again returned to the hotel.

The afternoon was enviable. Everyone worked quietly, cleaning and stamping books. I sorted out books for the fair. When finally, the three hotel volunteers were done, I cleaned up the place.

There was a Bill Schmidtkunz sighting. He came by later than usual to get more books. Looked very tired to me. Yes, he will be at the state fire, taking up space at the bee booth.

There may have been other events, but I’m too tired to recall what they are.

I am at my standing desk, typing, then falling asleep, then typing some, then falling asleep. It hurts my feet, to be standing

I intended to work on my co-authored article with Skye – my intentions were good – I think that this is not going to happen.

It’s a race against time. I’m falling asleep again. Bed across the way is looking more and more comfortable. And Ryder, who is on this bed. thinks so too.
