Goats are unaware that they are pooping when they poop. It just spills out of their rear end. Horses, they are aware that they are pooping. So they are often selective. Wild horses (stallions) leave what are called stud piles, mounds of poop that indicate to mares where they are hanging out.
Today I also had a meeting with my Foraker Group Executive Director mentor. I told him about the book project and along the way provided him with anecdotal information. I could tell by his expression that he didn’t really know what to say about the current situation, so I sort of made it easy for him and suggested that we focus on talking about fund raising. So this is what we’ll do the next time we talk.
In talking about the project, and my role in it, it occurred to me that I created a job for which I am not qualified. Yep. I am not executive director material because I can’t think inside the box. I can only think outside the box. I have created a great job for someone else. And they can have it. They can fundraise and write grants and write more grants. I would be happy sorting books and doing publicity. I would like to remain involved in the Books in the Villages Program. And I would like to teach writing classes.
Yes, I think it would be a good idea to have someone else be the executive director of the Bright Lights Book Project.
In the meantime, I’m taking a very active role in the fundraising effort. My first contact was my sister Eleanor who oh, oh said that she’d recently been hacked, so perhaps she can donate money in the next few months. Hmm, fundraising may end up being more difficult and more laborious than I first thought.
