December 4, 2025: An Ideas Day in the Evening

I generally have my ideas days in the mornings. Then I am somewhat groggy, and the ideas just come to me. It is very rare for me to have an ideas day in the evenings. I don’t recall it ever happening.

It most likely is because I ate too much trail mix. I put chocolate chips in the mix. Had to do it. Needed the burst of energy. What’s most important is that I used this to my advantage.

It was an odd day. It started with Pete and me bickering over my day’s plans. We had a conflict. Tyra needs to be fed every few hours. Her poop is now more solid. I did not want to go to town because it was raining and snowing. Pete wanted me to stay at home. I did not want to stay at home because Lawrence was sick, and so I had to open the door of the former banquet room of the historic Eagle Hotel for the special needs students and make sure that rather than Lawrence, that Kathy, who oversees the table at the Palmer Senior Center, got the bins to set out on the tables.

Pete said he did not have the time at mid-afternoon to come home. What to do? I decided to chance it and ride in with him and see if on the way we might come up with an alternative.

He did come up with an alternative, which was to pick me up and bring me home around 4:00 p.m. This way, I would not have to drive, and Tyra would get her later in the day hay.

I do not understand why he didn’t come up with this option beforehand. I think it has to do with the fact that the semester is nearly over and consequently he is tired.

It was a quiet day at the hotel, with just one volunteer. A former volunteer came by and got books.

I had time to think. And I thought about the consensus model and the core purpose, and this gave me the impetus, this evening, to attend the Center for the Book meeting and to suggest that we partner by having them include a small piece in our upcoming newsletter. This was my saying that the video was a huge accomplishment and that they need to use this to their advantage.

Dunno. After, I wrote down a list of items for a newsletter, which we will get out on Sunday, dog willing.

I’m not thinking about the fact that I have too much to do. I’m now just doing it.
