And we walked back down Oceanview Road with me holding my hands by my sides. I recalled as we moved along (the we included Ryder and Shadow) that back in the day how she’d realize she was free and blast off, in the direction of home.
She and I remain the same age. She’s not moving at the speed of light, and neither am I. We are not old and stove up, but we do no longer have the energy of youth. I suppose we could and most likely will get in good shape again, but she’s most likely not going to bolt, and I’m not going to sprint, as a matter of course.
Raudi thinks that I have mellowed. And I think that she has mellowed. I’d like it if we could both go back in time five, ten years and in this way get our verve back.
I’m glad that I rode her. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I always go for a ride on Thanksgiving, and this year is not going to be an exception. I’ll also ride Hrimmi. And I’ll get Pete to ride Tyra.
The riding is good right now because the horses are not being distracted by the now non-existent grass.
I feel good on the days when I ride. So I am going to ride more. And if it does not snow, start doing agility again.
Work was interesting. In all the years that I’ve been getting volunteers to clean books, I have yet to run low or out of books. Well, this happened twice today. I did go to U-Haul, so I had some books on hand for the first two volunteers who showed up. But they ran short. Then a high school volunteer appeared, and I had to go to U-Haul and get more books. Grr, grr, grr. And this U-Haul load contains a lot of textbooks. Grr, grr, grr, again.
The high schoolers, Titus and his girlfriend, stamped a few boxes of duplicate books. They, however, made me feel like the age distance between us and them made a difference. One interesting thing I noticed about them was that they had a lot of respect for their teachers, who it was evident, were assisting them in developing a love of learning.
When, finally, Pete arrived with the books from Title Wave, and after we unloaded them, both Titus and his girlfriend got really excited about the books on hand, and took some with them, to which I thought, mission accomplished.
