Then I went to the former banquet room of the historic Eagle Hotel and continued to tidy up. I thought things were in good order when I left last night, but there was more to do.
I met with Pam and Becky at 1:00 p.m. They are my writing group buddies. I did not prepare well for this meeting. Still, I managed to pull it off. I had them do freewriting exercises. These exercises gave us a lot to talk about. Me, I talked more than the other two.
This writing group was something that I wanted to have happen. There is this. And there is the Thursday artist in residence gatherings.
Pete is working on getting the tutoring requests online for the Mat-Su Central Home School Students. And the chairs arrived. Now all we need are the LEGOs for the LEGOs Club.
Tomorrow the high schoolers are going to learn that there is going to be a BLBP bookcase in their school library. We continue to work on the Books to Kenya option, and they will be orchestrating the LEGOs Club. I have names of possible students.
The tree is up. The BLBP Christmas village is up. It took a lot of time yesterday and today, but the place is pretty tidy.
Anneta came by and finished putting the village together.
Now, once again, I must say that I had no idea that in five years’ time that this project would become what it has become. I just thought it wrong that books be destroyed. I developed the vision that I now have over time.
If we get partners, we can get grants and purchase the hotel, which will include the former banquet room. There was a fellow in England who purchased a zoo. The zoo had animals. A hotel, it does compare to a zoo in that a zoo contains animals who need to be fed every day, no matter what.
It would be cool to have a large fish aquarium in the lobby.
Becky, writing group member, asked me about holiday plans for the book project. I said that we have to get through Monday. Monday is an event day – the United Way is having items on hand for what Michele, their administrative director, calls Little Humans. This strikes me as funny.
If we win the Chamber of Commerce tree decorating contest, we will have a Christmas party.
