November 18, 2025: Uneventful

This is the word that Pete and I use to describe days in which nothing of any consequence has happened. It also gives permission to the other person to elaborate on their day’s activities if anything worthy of note transpired.

Today was, for me, an uneventful day. Nothing happened to tell Pete or write about. It’s good that not all days are uneventful, otherwise life would be even more boring than it usually is.

There is now less time for things to be uneventful or eventful because it’s now dark around 4:00 p.m. I drove the car home, as always, when it’s near dark or after dark, I fret.

I’d have nothing to write about if my life was uneventful. But I will give it a whirl.

I got Tyra, Ryder, and Shadow out for a walk this morning. I let Shadow off leash because she has such good recall. I didn’t take any chances with Ryder. There is just a heavy dusting on the ground – otherwise I would have let Tyra run free. Best to wait until we get a substantial snowfall and have a few berms.

The sun was shining and it was cold, but not overly so. And I am getting used to the temperature drop.

My day began with my tending to the animals, all of whom were very chipper. Tyra is better.

I put the animals in their respective enclosures/house and took off in the direction of town. I didn’t have a lot of time, so I took some short cuts. I first went to the Palmer Pool and restocked the shelves. There were numerous children present, and most of them had books in hand. This of course made my day. It makes what I’ve been thinking a truism for some time, which is make books accessible and you will open the world to potential readers.

I next went to the Palmer Lions Club meeting. I have to say that it was really uneventful. Just a sea of gray and white-haired people wearing bright yellow vests. One fellow, who’d been to a concert, got up to the front of the room, behind the podium and rattled on about the most recent district Lion’s Club meeting.

I left the meeting early because I had to get back to the former banquet room of the historic Eagle Hotel. I walked in the door, and noticed that Natalie, a volunteer, was sitting in the Laz Z boy chair that Keith gave the organization.

I will move the chair once the books going to Bethel are out of the room.

I spent the afternoon in the former banquet room of the historic Eagle Hotel working alongside volunteers, all of them were invested in what they were doing. This made my job easier.

After leaving the hotel, I drove over to Family Treasurers Thrift Store and unloaded Secret Santa books and picked up a handful of children’s books. I am going to keep the place tidy in exchange for books that we are needing. I picked up a good handful of children’s books for us.
