October 9, 2025: Wild Times

I do like being busy. I don’t like being so busy that I can’t get what I need to get done, or off-putting to others. Yes, that’s it. I do not like being off putting to others because I have in the past had it done to me, as in, “I wish I could give you an assist, but I am really busy.”

What this person or persons are saying is that what I am asking is low on the list of priorities. Grr, grr, grr. In my estimation, these individuals are putting it where the sun don’t shine. My sun is always shining.

I did have a very busy day. It began with my going to stock the Lekker bookcase and discovering that a woman and her young male child were right in front of me. Mom was assisting Daniel in picking out a book. I put my bin down, pulled out a book, and began reading it to him.

I immediately realized that reading to children at bookcases is what I need to do. Some things, like this, take a long time to figure out.

Rainbow on trail

I told Daniel and Mom about Saturday’s event at the Mat-Su Borough Animal Shelter, stocked the shelves, and then drove to Family Treasurers Thrift Store where they had three boxes of books, some children’s books.

I next stopped and checked in at the former banquet room of the historic Eagle Hotel, said hello to Robert, and picked up a handful of Kid’s Kupboard lunches, which I took with me to Palmer Senior Center.

I took a moment before going in – there was a message from what I will call an undisclosed location in Anchorage – there are four pallets of books there waiting for us. This, I thought, would complement the truckload we got yesterday.

I wasted no time. When I was about done, I headed to the Palmer Rotary Meeting. It was a good meeting, and I got to relax some before assisting volunteers in cleaning and stamping books.
