They also had to deal with a lot of rain. It is in the forecast for more rain in the next few days, so I will work hard inside. I hope this is not the beginning of winter.
Tomorrow Josh the farrier comes to trim the horses’ hoofs. I hope that he does not have to do this in the rain. In all the years he’s been trimming and shoeing horses here, the weather has been good.
I had time to get one horse out. I took Raudi and had plans to take Hrimmi out, but it now is dark by 8:00 p.m. The solstice will be in two months and 21 days. The time will go by quicker if the good weather continues to be nice.
Some BLBP volunteers stayed a bit longer this afternoon (cleaning books) than I expected, so I stayed longer too. I got some work in the annex done.
Right now there is a lull in incoming books. I have never seen this happen before. There have been times when so many children’s books have come in that I have barely had a place to put them.
Overall, right now there is a lower inventory. It is not so low that we don’t have books to distribute. But it is such that I can’t honor specific requests. I sure wish that we were partnering with VCRS. I see their recycling truck pull into Bishop’s Attic Thrift Store, which is kitty corner to the former banquet room of the historic Eagle Hotel.
And wouldn’t it be way cool if we got the children’s books that end up at the thrift store? I remember unpacking pallets of books that Bishop’s sent to VCRS – VCRS must now be doing something with these books.
The current way we operate will change because change is a constant. I must continue to be happy about the BLBP accomplishments, of which there are many and most of which are our doing.
Atli wants us to put an awning of his in front of the hotel. I am thinking, wait, can’t yet commit to this. Yep, change is constant.
