I returned to the former banquet room of the historic Eagle Hotel. The volunteer base is growing to a large part because I recruited people at the fair. A good thing, anything that saves me time.
Pete went to Title Wave and picked up books. I sorted them and put the children’s books in boxes. I did this as I was talking with Cathy, our artist in residence. She had this great idea, which is that we should get a vintage book group together. What excites me about this is that she’s excited about doing this.
And we do have the vintage children’s books. Maybe we can have participants write about the particular memory that the book or books bring to mind. Or they can draw or paint it. There we go; the wheels are still turning. The wheels always turn, just not fast enough
We’ll get this going after my sister El returns home to Portland, Oregon. Maybe the books can be a jumping off point for writing and art projects.
I pause. I am again really tired. One good thing about the darkness is that it is easier to get to sleep. Staying asleep, this is another matter entirely. Now at the computer, I am at my standing bookcase, ready to doze off. I have in the past fallen over.
Today I had this thought – for Halloween, I am going to be the book fairy. I will get Sharon to dress me up. I was originally going to be the tooth fairy, but this is going to be more fitting.
Thinking about what to do with my sister. When I think of what we might do, I think of many things and places, but I keep coming up with the idea of our going to Seward. We could go on a whale watch. Or to the Sealife Aquarium. And I can drop off books at the library, school, and sea life center. Just thinking. Always thinking.
I just can’t believe all that has happened, has happened. I didn’t let the matter of book acquisition drop. This most likely had a lot to do with it.
