September 7, 2025: A Day at Home

This is what I wanted. This is what I got. Last night, I was feeling so overwhelmed by what I had to do that I did not sleep very well. Even doing bio feedback breathing didn’t work very well. Quite often it does. When it does not, I realize that I have a major issue to resolve.

I woke up with tooth, head, and neck pain. This is never a good way to start the day particularly when I am tired from a lack of sleep. I arose at 8:30 a.m., fed and cleaned up after the animals, and then ate breakfast. After, I called Vicki. She’s on the BLBP board and is the one who accompanied me on the Red Trail walkabout. She’s also knowledgeable about alternative medicine.

I told Vicki that I was done with the initial alternative tooth treatment, but that it was still not healed. She told me that I should start over. I asked about the head and neck pain, and she said that, yes, it is most likely related to my dental issue.

I was glad to hear this. I am most fearful about not being able to figure out what’s going on. I even felt better after talking to her. Of course, this makes me wonder about dentistry, and why dentists don’t treat the entire patient.

And so, talking with Vicki got my day off to a good start. We also talked some about BLBP specifics.

Pete is the project’s greatest cheer leader, and when I asked him if we should abandon ship, he said that we should remain aboard. (This is my phrasing not his). When faced with an insurmountable problem, I tend to work hard, and today was no exception. I got quite a bit done. I wrote thank you cards, got the most recent volunteer contact list in order, and wrote this month’s People’s Paper article. As I told Pete, this was my best piece of project writing yet.

This evening I made calls to potential BLBP volunteers. Pete is now putting the information that I put together on a spread sheet. We’ll use this in making future phone calls.

Oh, and yes, I did get two horseback rides in. I first rode Raudi on the trails – Pete rode Tyra. And after, I rode Hrimfara around the loop. As is to be expected, the horses are not in great shape. However they are bomber. For example, Raudi took the lead at the base of a waterlogged area, and Tyra followed. In fact, she just forged her way ahead of indecisive Tyra.

I need more time to ride. It calms me considerably to be around horses, much less ride them.

Tomorrow I am going to distribute books – and when I get home, I am going to go riding, rain or shine. Today it rained some, on and off, but nothing that would have slowed me down. Tomorrow, I expect the same. I’m exhausted in having reached for the stars.
