August 11, 2025: Hi ho Hi ho. It’s off to Bed we go

I love going to bed. Getting in bed is sort of like climbing into the Palmer Pool hot tub. Thirty seconds into it and there is a lot of ahhhhhhhhh. But then after, no more ahhhhhhhhh. The water isn’t hot enough. Bed, I fall asleep fairly quickly but then wake up, but then I wake up and am not able to get back asleep.

I’d love to have a hot tub. I would hop in two, three times a day. I would also like more animals. I would take care of them. I would like a large barn and a huge pasture for all the animals. I’d like to have a pond and have migrating birds land on it.

Such things require money, and I work for free. I am still a volunteer at the BLBP and I doubt this is going to change. So I must be content with what I have, which is more than most. Three mares, two does, two chickens, and two dogs. If I hedge my bets, maybe I can get a puppy. I would like another herding dog. This dog is going to fall out of the sky, this is how I am going to acquire it, so I am going to name her (has to be a her) Skye. Maybe she will fall out of the sky when I am in Scotland. I wonder if young dogs can handle long flights.

Today, the writing, I did not feel like working. But if, say, I say that I’m only going to write for an hour, I do it. Setting a goal on any given day, of writing for two hours, is not realistic at this point in time.

I continued to work on the Senior Center chapter. Every day I get closer to the day in which I will print up another entire draft. I have been known to produce 20-30 copies of book length works. Right now I am on my third draft. If I can continue to find time to write during fair season, the next two weeks, I will have another draft ready by September.

Today Alex and Kalie walked in the door of the former banquet room of the historic Eagle Hotel. I was on the floor, under the table that holds the children’s books – and I looked up and Alex was smiling down at me.

He and Kalie made the long trip up the highway, two dogs in tow. Alex’s father drove one of three cars. It appears as though they will soon be purchasing the house that Sally Hitchcock’s family owns. This is a good fit.

I took them over to meet Becky, the head gardener at the fair, and she hired Alex who will begin work at the conclusion of the fair. We then went and walked over to where Becky’s train now graces the center area of the fairgrounds. Reach for the stars – the train will be covered with ravens that Becky made this winter and spring.

Next: 216. 8/12/25: Good weather continues
