Down: we are too close to the solstice.
Up: Get it while you can.
Down: Neighbor dog in yard. Is neighbor still alive?
Up: Tyra’s poop remains solid.
Down: Fretting about upcoming meeting with new BLBP board president.
Up: I go to Bugee Park and read three books to children. I can continue to do this, I think.
Down: Tired.
Up: Meeting with Board president goes way better than expected.
Down: Too many books on the table to sort, clean, stamp, and categorize. |

Up, up, and away: My old horse buddy Heather Ashe walks in the door with her mother and Aunt Isabel. We talk and talk and talk, about horses and the book project. And we talk some more. Here we go – balance – this is what I think. My friendship with a horsey buddy is restored – we will do horsey things together.
Down: Other people come into the literacy center and need my attention. All I want to do is talk horses with Heather.
Up: Pete and Bea give an assist cleaning books.
Down: Heather has to go.
Up: I head on over to the Koslosky building for my physical therapy session, which is in the pool.
Down: The clock in the Body and Balance office is too fast.
Up: My physical therapist and I have a wonderful time (45 minutes) talking about her trip to an animal sanctuary. Susan is both adept at talking and at the same time providing a good workout. I always feel so much better afterwards. She’s the best.
Down: I come out of the Koslosky Building – the weather is absolutely perfect. I want to go home and go for a long horseback ride. But I have things I must do.
Up: Got two volunteers to give me a hand in the afternoon.
Down: Have a lot of work to do to get ready for a meeting tomorrow.
Up: Spend time with my friend Clyde this evening – she’s moving to California and spending the night in the Eagle Hotel.
Down: It’s 9:30 p.m., or thereabouts, when I leave the former banquet room of the historic Eagle Hotel. I’m tired, but I do distributing. It’s either the good summer weather or we really are making a change here in Palmer, in the reading habits of children. The books are going, and fast.
UP: I get home and discover Pete has cleaned up after the horses, something I wasn’t up for doing, although if I had to, I’d have enjoyed interacting with them.
Down: Tired.
UP: I check my email and notice that there’s a message from Logan, our long lost videographer. Recall that a week ago I stumbled into a podcast he was making, of the two owners hanging out at the Bleeding Heart Brewery, drinking beer. I walked in and became a part of the video. I watched it – it’s really very funny. The exciting thing is, Logan said in his message that they’d like to include me in future podcasts. The story teller in me saw this as being a possibility.
This was my day. In looking back, I see that there were more ups than downs. I had to struggle to come up with them. Using writing to problem solve. Always works.
