Neither Pete nor I sit around and watch TV or spend our time on the Internet. I have become far too phone dependent, but I think that if we no longer have these devices on hand (no pun intended), we all will be far better off.
So today, I did quite a bit. Tyra’s eye is (as Pete calls it) weepy, so per our veterinarian’s orders, we cleaned it up and rinsed it out with saline solution.
Bill came by and picked up manure. He looked (as Pete said) haggard – work and family responsibilities are taking it out of him.
We headed to town. I was given orders to not turn off my car engine because it might not start unless I did otherwise. I met up with Pete in the hotel parking lot and he took the vehicle to NAPA and got a new battery. I did not tell him that the original battery may have worn down because I might have forgotten to turn off the car lights. Pete, if you are reading this, I was afraid to say anything.
The late morning/early afternoon was spent getting things in even better order in the hotel, but this time I had help. Pam sorted out very small stuff and I continued to get books ready for Pete and Robert to load into the car. I got the books ready for two Reading Rendevouz booths – ours and that of the main organizer.
I also put more books away. The guys moved the front desk to the back of the room and I now have my own workspace. Pam also has her own work space and desk, up in the front of the room.
I next went to Family Treasurers and dropped off books for their upstairs bookcases. I also took a few and later, after stamping them, put them in my distribution bins.
Tyra’s eye did not look better when we got home – the lids are pussy and swollen, so Pete called Zach, our veterinarian, who invited us out to his house, in order to pick up some eye ointment for Tyra. So we went over there after dinner.
Both Pete and I had a wonderful time. Zach has four boys and many animals. After watching him and one of his four sons milk the cow, we went inside where the second oldest showed me his ant farm and jars full of ants. He is on the way towards become a naturalist.
Good, to get away for a while from book project stuff.
