April 16, 2025: Postnasal Drip

I decided to take care of all my medical issues in one day. This was today. So first off, I went to the dentist. Going to the dentist is never any fun. Most would concur. I was right on time, and taken to what I called the bad news room. My blood pressure was taken. It’s always low. This time it was really high. The dentist appeared and gave me Novocain and then disappeared saying he’d be back in ten minutes. I could hear laughing in the next room. He and his assistants reappeared in twenty minutes.

This gave me time to get more anxious. I knew what was coming. I’d been told when my teeth were cleaned that I had two cavities that were in hard to get at places. I was further told that I’d need to take real good care of my teeth or else I’d have to have a bridge removed if I had an additional cavity.

I of course have since been taking very good care of my teeth. There is some controversy as to whether Floride is bad for you. It’s such a nice word, Floride, so how can it be bad for you? I am not going to go against the dentists’ orders. I will continue flossing and brushing and water picking and rinsing until the cows come home. Moooooooooooo.

It was no fun, all the drill baby drill. And I knew the drill after the first tooth was done. The second was worse than the first. Finally, he was done and before exiting the room he said that the cavities were deeper than he thought they would be. I assured him I’d take good care of my teeth, and I meant it.

Onward, to the Palmer Pool where I dropped off books, got into the hot tub, pool, and hot tub, in this order, then took off in the direction of Sutton where I had my second medical appointment of the day.

I am suffering, and I do mean suffering, from Acid Reflux. The Native Health Clinic is a very laid-back place, and the staff is relaxed and helpful. I got a referral to Imaging Associates, and I will get an ultrasound. It very well may be that I also have an ulcer. Imagine that.

I have a list of foods that I’m to avoid – chocolate, because it has caffeine, is one of them. To which I saw hoooooowwwooooooo. This is not good at all. In fact, all the foods that I love and are my mainstay are on this very dreadful list. I cannot live on water and iceberg lettuce. I will add foods one at a time and see how it goes. I sure wish that I had access to goat’s milk.

I met our old friend Vicki there—she works there – we talked for about 45 minutes – when people really listen to me, and Vicki was listening – it is akin to turning on a faucet. The very good news is that she is very interested in joining the BLBP board. Slowly, slowly, we are getting our act together. Baby Huey is growing up.
