Problem is, I would not have been able to go along with the group because I had to chair both the above-mentioned meeting. Now I am working seven days a week, for no pay and I can’t go riding with friends.
I attempted to tell those attending the first meeting this, and the response I got was one of incomprehension. As the first meeting progressed, two thoughts came to mind. The first was that no one really cared one way or another about how I felt. The second was that these individuals, who are older, and as they say, are “set in their ways,” are not going to change. No, they are not going to become kinder, more thoughtful, or more hard-working.
This is okay and I have now accepted it as fact.
Our newest board member was at the second meeting, and I have to say, she is a breath of fresh air. She has been on many boards, and I suspect she is adept at whipping people into shape. Even me.
We got home late, I thought, too late to go for a ride. We ate dinner, then at 8:30 p.m., Pete suggested we go for a ride. I asked him if he wanted to get his work out of the way, and he said no, that he’d like to do his work in the morning when he was fresher.
So we brushed, saddled up Raudi and Tyra, and went for a ride. Even though we ride the same trails most of the time, the terrain is always different, and today was no exception. The snow patches and the bare ground are now equally patchy.
The horses were careful, as they always are, and didn’t seem to want to go fast, so we went slow. We brought the dogs along, and they too moved at a leisurely pace.
We made it home before dark and put the horses away. Tyra again has the splats – Pete thinks that this, the second time around, might be because she again has giardia. He posited that she might have become reinfected drinking the pool of water in the pen.
And so once again I have resumed fretting about Tyra. Maybe we will do the Panacur Power Pack again. I wonder how many times we can do this.
Pete was indeed the motivator. If he hadn’t suggested that we go for a ride, this would not have happened.
