It was a long day, made longer because Pete and I spent time troubleshooting my hearing aids. No fun. And I don’t know how seniors who live alone deal with this sort of thing. It requires fine motor skills to take the hearing aid apart and then reassemble it. But somehow, Pete managed to do this.
I hauled ass out of the house, first went to Bionic Chiropractic and retrieved my laminated hydro therapy worksheets, then stopped at the hotel briefly before heading onto the pool and trying out the exercises. I was, by the time I got there, short on time and did not do them all. But I did get into the hot tub, briefly. The water is never hot enough.
I went straight to the Palmer Senior Center, and with signage in hand, I went to talk to the vendors at the holiday bazaar. I told them about the quilt silent auction. All were very receptive and said they’d pass the word on to others. One woman in particular said that she was from Kodiak Island. We talked a bit, and she suggested that the area coast guard station, and the coast guard elementary school teachers might want books.
I thanked her and went to leave. I was standing at the desk/lobby area when Tim, the CEO, turned around after talking with his subordinates and asked me what I was doing with the sign. I showed him the sign and said that I was telling people about the quilt auction tomorrow. His words to me were, “get out.” I went back into the dining area and spoke with Vicki, who was from Kodiak Island. I told her what Tim had said, and she was appalled. I then provided her with some background information about the Palmer Senior Center board.
Well, I know that Tim and company are going to hear about this. I should be bothered about this, but I am not because every day something momentous occurs in regard to this project.
It reminds me of when the VCRS board made it clear they wanted nothing to do with us. We kept going and are still going. In such instances, these groups have had more to lose than the BLBP. And right now, the quilts on the stands next to me are proof of this.
