November 5, 2024: Election Results: I Told you So

The pre-election lines have been quite long, I’d heard some people had to wait for up to three hours in order to vote. Upon hearing this, I thought, would I wait in line for that length of time? This, a question that I am posing to an individual who feels like she has a vested interest in the outcome of the presidential election. The answer is most likely not.

I had been told that those who had difficulty standing could go to front of the line. Now, would I do this? I could say that I have lower back pain and a messed-up hip, and maybe get a jump on the line, but this, I know, would be unethical. But then again, not voting at all would not sit well with me either.

I Voted

What to do? I decided to go to the polls, located very close to the historic Eagle Hotel, and check out the line situation, then make my decision accordingly. So this is what I did. Well, there were (it seemed) a lot of cars in the parking lot, but upon entering the building, I noticed that the line was relatively short. It was, once I joined it, divided into two sections, the A to L line and the M to Z line.

I was fortunate in that my friend Kelly was checking off the A to L names. I moved next to the borough registration and then went to the ballot curtain with two ballots.

Once in the ballot box, I took my sweet time in filling out the forms. I then popped out and put the forms in there respective ballot boxes. The last time I did this the paper ballot jammed, and so I did not get to vote in the primary.

I made sure that this did not happen this time.

The election results this time around are very disheartening. This country is going into the dark ages – and those who voted for the dictator are going to be sorry. Sad to say, but the rest of us are also going to be sorry.

I will not externalize my internal doomsday rap because those who have voted the way I have know what I mean. I am singing to the choir and the choir is singing loudly.

It may come down to making sure on the home front that basic needs are met. Our living off the grid is going to be to our advantage.

I am going to hop onto another train of thought. It’s going in the opposite direction so I have to cross tracks to get to it. And it’s moving at the speed of light. One train, the train I was on, was moving in the direction of darkness. The other train, the one I am attempting to catch, is moving in the direction of light.

A good analogy here, to end the day with.

You see? I can’t imagine.
