We were told by one of the Palmer Senior Center Board Members/Bingo players to talk more quietly. Apparently, there is a microphone on the far side of the room where we were sitting.
When these things happen, I say, “Boundaries Alys, boundaries.”
I hurried back to the hotel and there met two women representatives from the Franz Bread company. They took 14 boxes of books, 10 of which were kid’s books. We are partnering – they will supply us with food for our next event. And they will help to get us funding on their November Day of Giving.
I attempted to log on Zoom and be a part of the consultant meeting. This did not work, so Pete got the nod and conducted the meeting.
I was disappointed – this was something that I wanted to be involved in, but it wasn’t meant to be.
So after, Pam and I went to Butte Elementary school, and there we talked with the principal who was receptive to our providing them with a bookcase and books. She requested boxes, so that they might box up books that they have on hand, for us.
Lastly, we then went and visited Taylor York who lives in the Butte. He had had a mini stroke while standing by his garage, and so we went to visit him. He was ambulatory, and in good spirits. He gave us a tour of his place – he has a compact garden. Inside, his downstairs apartment is very much an artist’s man cave, having painting and all art supplies, and books all over the place. He shares this space with his little service dog, Chloey, and two other very large and overweight dogs. One is a Newfie that had a body shave.
And so tomorrow? Back to the fairgrounds to do two story hours. I hope that it does not rain. Another day like today would be quite nifty.
Today’s idea – make a sign that reads BOOKS on a Stick and have advertisement for the story hour on the reverse side.
