I missed a date. How’d I do this? Perhaps I slept right through it. I’ll be that I woke up at 8:00 a.m., rolled over, and went back to sleep for the remainder of the day and well into the evening. This doesn’t explain why I was so tired all day today and am tired tonight. Apparently, the rug was pulled out from under me, and I didn’t even notice.
And so, here I am, a day late and a dollar short. I never understood that phrase – and I have actually never heard anyone use it.
Much of my vocabulary comes from reading – I get the meaning of words through the use of context. Some don’t even register. However, some resurface without me understanding where I learned of their definition or phraseology. |
Robert fixing the vacuum

I spend a better portion of most days attempting to come up with ideas for dispatches. Some nights, like tonight, I’m tired, so none come back to mind.
And so, this day is now just a series of blips.
Blip.
I went for a ride this a.m. I rode Tyra who was more interested in eating grass than she was in being ridden. It could have been that she felt she didn’t get enough hay this a.m. She was grabbing right and left at the green stuff fading to yellow.
Blip, Blip.
I was at the historic Eagle Hotel at 1:00 p.m. Robert was there, working on fixing the vacuum cleaner. It was extremely noisy, this, a 1970s model. But it worked after he spent considerable time attempting to get it working, and quieter.
Blip, Blip, Blip.
Mary Peltola’s husband died in a plane crass yesterday. She is the Alaska Congresswoman. She replaced Congressman Don Young. Once again, it goes to show that any of us can go at any time.
Blip, Blip, Blip, Blip.
I parked Phonics parallel to the Historic Eagle Hotel, then went inside the former banquet room. I then watched as one of the hotel workers walked around my car, looking at it, then looking behind it, so as to see if I had made any ruts in the new surface. I had not. She called the owner who let Robert know that I ought not park my car there. I had, moments before, again pulled a groin muscle, so I could not move very quickly. This is what I would have told her or the building owner. I never got the chance. They both disappeared. I decided that I will park the car beside the building after 3:00 p.m. when the restaurant closes.
Blip, blip, blip, blip, blip.
Robert worked hard, I worked hard, Pam (our new board member), we all worked hard in making the former banquet room Open House presentable. It seemed like by 5:00 p.m. that the room had been transformed.
Blip, blip, blip, blip, blip, blip
Pete and Robert went and got the bookcase that previously was at the Pioneer Home. Now it’s in the former banquet room of the historic Eagle Hotel, filled with controversial books that I hope people will take home with them on Friday and Saturday.
