There are a lot of kids’ books out there, it seems to me to be an infinite number. The ones I see are the ones that made it into print. There are many, many, many more, ones that like the above, that were just an idea.
I need to reclaim time, so that my ideas can come into fruition. Time, just like money, can be squandered. I thought about this today, as I was sorting and categorizing books by Dr. Suess. I had set aside five boxes of his book. This man was amazingly prolific. In some cases, he wrote the text and did the illustrations. And in other cases, he did the illustrations and someone else wrote the text.
I think we have a complete set of his works. I can’t see that we are missing anything.
I did not clean or stamp these books. Just getting them in order took over an hour.
If Dr. Suess was still alive, I would ask him how he found the time to write and illustrate so many books.
My job IS getting easier. Today I carried a few boxes of books to a table for cleaning and that was it. Pete gave me an assist. These were children’s books that came in yesterday. It is easy now to make headway.
I would have gone for a ride when I got home, but it was raining. It’s a nasty rain that’s still falling. And now, at 9:09 p.m. because of the rain, it’s getting dark. I of course am hoping that the sun will be shining on Saturday, the day of the parade. However, if it’s raining, I have an alternative plan. Alternative plans are a good thing, particularly if they are not weather dependent. We will go to the Koslosky Building, the site of our most visited bookcases, and we will pass out books to those going through the lobby.
We are again down on our hay supply. We have five bales left. Gulp. And they have a slightly sour smell.
Pete and I are commending one another because we did not purchase a large amount of hay like we did last year. This was a huge financial loss for us.
Rain, rain, go away, come again no other day. . .
