Wisdom comes with age,
and age comes with wisdom.

The dance hand-in-hand,
doing an uncoordinated cha cha cha
in those spaces where heavy lifting is carried out –
the hayfield included.

I reel backwards as flabby man on ground
yanks a bale out of my arms and tosses it to a sinewy boy
balanced on a tottering hay wagon.

Seeing this, age and wisdom flee the field
with me following at their heels.
